Upper Level Instruction 2008

Upper level assessment and preps dates.... what's coming up

Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:59 pm (PST)

In continuing the format from recent years, the region is offering 4 days of assessment clinics for the candidates. This is the same format that is followed in other regions with successful results. The purpose is to give the candidates a chance to ride with qualified clinicians to let them know where they are in relation to the
standard BEFORE the deadline for applications. The clinicians are active National Examiners or an Apprentice National Examiner, so will give very appropriate feedback.

Mounted candidates will be required to attend 2 of the 4 days, although they may opt to attend 3 or even 4 days.

Information will be coming to the candidates over the next few days, but to start, here are the dates of the upcoming riding assessment days. Every effort was made to accomodate other activities, both within and
outside of pony club, but inevitably there will be conflicts for some people. Hopefully by being given the opportunity to make 2 out of 4, all candidates will find some dates that work for them.

Saturday February 2 Location:  Aumsville
Sunday February 3 Location: Aumsville
Saturday March 8 Location: Ridgefield
Saturday March 16 Location: Goshen

Based on feedback from the assessments, candidates will then need to work with their DC to determine whether this is the year to attempt the rating. Applications are due to the RS by April 1st.
Application

For the candidates continuing on with the testing process, here are some other dates to be aware of:

Mandatory Preps (all sessions required):

Saturday April 12 Location: Estacada
Sunday April 13 Location: Estacada
Sunday April 27 Location: Ridgefield (Bandaging and Lunging Clinic)
Saturday May 31 Location: Estacada
Sunday June 1 Location: Estacada

(Overnight accommodations will be available for the mandatory preps)

HB and HA candidates will also have mandatory sessions to attend. Information is forthcoming. Candidates should be currently studying in preparation. The HB and HA candidates will be required to attend their own separate sessions, the above is for mounted candidates. Iinformation and dates forthcoming.

H-B re-tests> How to go about

From "Laura Cannon" testing@ponyclub.org   Tue Aug 7, 2007 1:21 pm (PST)

Dear DC's,
The re-test sections candidate may make their own arrangements for their re-test. They may contact an examiner from the National Examiner List but must use one that is OK'ed to do that level, in this case H-B's. This is reflected by check off boxes on the list for each examiner. This candidate would bring his/her test sheet with them and then the PIP would send it into the National Office after the re-test.
To do a re-test sections at an already scheduled test: The candidate would contact the PIP on the test to make sure they can accommodate this candidate for his/her re-test. Also contact the organizer if the PIP is OK with doing the re-test. It is up to the PIP if they/re-tests can be accommodated at the scheduled test. National does not take in any application, etc. for these re-tests. This candidate would bring his/her test sheet with them and then the PIP would send it into the National Office after the re-test. We do want to try to accommodate the kids if possible and not make re-tests difficult for them to get into. Candidates are not charged for re-testing.
Just FYI:
For a candidate having to take the entire test (DNMS more than 4 sections) they would submit a complete new application for a test that has a later application deadline. No applications are accepted after the deadline for tests. Please check the Testing Schedule on the USPC website for those tests that have later application deadlines.
I hope this helps clarify the process for re-test candidates and candidates that need to take the entire test again.
Thank you and let me know if you have any questions. testing@ponyclub.org
